We are often asked why its so important that we do the measuring ourselves for a carpet or flooring installation estimate rather than just letting our customers supply the measurements. Here’s why:
There is more to it than just reading a tape measure. We need to assess the existing floor so we know what is (or isn’t) needed to complete the job correctly. For example, if it is a vinyl installation, we need to evaluate the existing floor to see if a new sub floor is needed. If it is carpet installation, we need to make sure the appropriate amount of carpet is allotted so that it can all run in the same direction and we like to talk about the best placement of seams. If there is furniture that will need to be relocated prior to installation, we need to see how much there is to move and where we can move it to during installation. All of this allows us to provide you with a thorough estimate on how much and how long it will take to complete the job.
